Deciding whether or not to end a marriage can be a painful and disorienting process. Oftentimes, there are so many factors that go into consideration of this decision that spouses are left wondering how they can possibly choose to either divorce or weather darker days alongside their partners with any confidence.

Ultimately, an attorney experienced in matters of divorce law can help you work out the logistics of the process, financial matters and other related legal tasks. However, the only person who can truly determine whether divorcing or remaining married is the healthiest choice for you.

It is normal to have trying times in a marriage. However, abuse, infidelity and persistently unhealthy and unloving choices are not par for the course. Only you can determine where you must draw your line in the sand. It may help to consult a counselor for an objective opinion. But in the end, you must sit down and think through what a healthy life looks like to you and whether or not you can achieve what you want and need from life with your spouse by your side.

Many times, spouses opt to legally separate or divorce because their values have changed. Other times, spouses opt to legally separate or divorce because one or both spouses have changed dramatically in ways that affect the relationship. If you are thinking about ending your marriage, understand that an attorney can help you achieve that goal. But first you must determine definitively that such action is what you truly want and need.
