Alvin S. Goldstein

Achieving success means caring about my clients, often providing financial advice to address their whole situation, not just the bankruptcy.

Wharton-educated bankruptcy attorney. A partner in Furr Cohen, Alvin S. Goldstein has specialized in complex bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring matters since joining the firm in 1997. Alvin typically represents business owners or high net-worth debtors-in-possession, chapter 11 and chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, DIP lenders and landlords. As one of the few bankruptcy attorneys with a finance degree from Wharton, Alvin is able to provide counsel that considers a client’s total financial situation in context with the bankruptcy.

High success from individualized counsel. Alvin understands that each bankruptcy case is distinct and he tailors his counsel to the individual issues it presents. His knowledge of the law, attention to detail and skill in communicating help clients feel confident about going through the process, knowing that Alvin is at their side. Recognized for his ability to manage complex chapter 7 and 11 proceedings, Alvin’s appreciation of the economic realities facing clients and the need for practical solutions in bankruptcy have earned him a high success rate. Representative clients have included data fusion companies, real estate developers, public communications companies, dollar stores, furniture stores, multi-unit gas stations, troubled real estate companies, celebrities, athletes, doctors and other professionals, many of whom seek out Alvin for his financial acumen as well as his bankruptcy expertise.

Award-winning transactions. Alvin recently represented TLFO, Inc. (f/k/a TLO, Inc.) in its chapter 11 reorganization which included a 22 hour auction sale that generated enough funds to pay all creditors in full, with interest, and return in excess of $40 million to equity to date. The transactions earned two M & A Advisor Turnaround Awards for Financial Services Deal of the Year and Professional Services (B-to-B) Deal of the Year.

Board-certified in bankruptcy. Beginning his career in New York primarily representing secured lenders in bankruptcy proceedings, out-of-court restructurings and state court collection proceedings, Alvin relocated to South Florida in 1993. He received his J.D. cum laude from Boston University School of Law, and is a Board Certified Business Bankruptcy Attorney by the American Board of Certification.
